Hastkala Sahyog Shivir camp organised in Kpi

As a part of the handloom camps organized across the country, under the initiative of “Hastkala Sahyog Shivir”, by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the first such camp in Manipur was organized today, at Navin Gorkha Youth Club Hall, Charhajare Motbung, Saitu Gamphazol Block Level Handloom Cluster, Kangpokpi district .
The camp was organized by National Handloom Development Corporation Limited, Porompat, Imphal while it was sponsored by office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India in coordination with Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, Imphal .
Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi T Ranjit Singh and Director of Handlooms and Textiles, Manipur K Lamlee Kamei graced the occasion as chief guest and president respectively while Assistant Director (Design), WCS, Imphal C Rajasekaran and Assistant Manager NHDC, Imphal Y Shantikumar Singh as guests of honour .

Apart from huge weavers and artisans numbering around 450, Assistant Regional Director, IGNOU, Imphal, Dr Mayonmi Shimray, SBI, Branch Manager, Sapormeina, L Premchandra Singh, Designer, Weaver Service Centre, Porompat, Imphal Landhoni and District Manager, CSC-SPV, Senapati Maisilungbou Chawangtingduimai also attended the occasion .
The event was organized with an objective of promote awareness to weavers and artisans or stakeholders concerned, for providing various services to weavers like Mudra loans, technology upgrading, Yarn Pass Books, enrolment under IGNOU, access to services provided by CSCs, etc .
Addressing the weavers and artisans on the occasion, T Ranjit Singh said that officials of over 40 district’s officials across 17 States conducted a video conference with Union Minister Smriti Irani regarding the Hastkala Sahyog Shivir last month, which was webcast across 228 districts, to give officials an insight on the importance of Hastkala Sahyog Shivir for weavers and artisans .
He continued that the initiative is dedicated to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Garib Kalyan Varsh, the birth centenary year of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya while adding that the camps across the country will be organized during October 7 to 17 .
He further said that the camp is proposed to organize in more than 200 handloom Block Level Clusters and Weavers' Service Centres and more than 200 handicraft clusters, in collaboration with State Governments.
The camp will also benefit over 1.20 lakh weavers and artisans .
The Deputy Commissioner said that the services which will be provided during the camp includes issuance of credit facilities through MUDRA scheme, assistance for technological upgrading, distribution of modern kits and equipment, enrolment under IGNOU/NOIS courses, access to Common Service Centre’s facilities, issuance of Yarn Pass Book, buyer-seller meets etc .
He also handed yarn passbooks to numerous weavers and artisans .
Many handlooms and handicrafts stalls were also opened at the camp .
Branch Manager, SBI Sapormeina, District Manager, CSC-SPV, Senapati and Designer, Weaver Service Centre, Porompat, Imphal spoke on the occasion.
