Imphal, August 05, 2012:
Even though Government of Manipur is said to have Rs 3500 crores under its plan budget, only Rs 900 crores is usable from the whole amount.
If the government ignores the situation even after warning the fate of Manipur is uncertain, leader of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress (MPTC) Legislature Wing MLA Dr I Ibohalbi has predicted.
Speaking in a one day political conference of Trinamool Congress Youth Front at his residence at Irengbam today, MLA Dr Ibohalbi said that he felt a jolt while studying the plan size of the state government during the recent Assembly session.
People may not be aware of the fact, but the financial condition of the state has been affected at its worst this time.
The government is on the verge of bankruptcy, he said.
The present government has no money left for the people of the state.
Besides, the state has no income of its own and the government does not take up any project to augment the revenue.
Even though, the state has Rs 3500 crore plan size, nothing has been left after deducting the overdraft amount of Rs 600 crore, debt of Centre Rs 500 crore and taxes to be paid the Centre, Dr Ibohalbi pointed out.
Having full knowledge of the situation, neither the government nor the public representatives are discussing ways to increase the revenue of the state.
Instead they are wasting their times in contract work and corruption.
If this situation continues, the future will be full of darkness, he said.
Dr Ibohalbi further said that Manipur does not have many public representatives who think for the welfare of the state.
The government is dealing with the current issues only and not of tomorrow.
The move of the party to form its Youth Front in all over the state is to save the state from such bankruptcy, he added.
