Body urges on National Highway

The United Club NH-37 (formerly NH-53) has drawn attention of the State Government regarding various issues related to the National Highway.
The body urged the Government to rectify the sharp turnings along the highway in order to reduce the overall length.
The United Club NH-37 also requested not to construct retaining walls and drains before fixing the exact breadth of the highway.
Demanding for cutting down of number of check posts along the NH, the body also pleaded to station equipment and manpower at these posts to enable early clearance of debris at the time of occurrence of sudden landslides.
It also demanded for setting up of more number if oil stations along the highway and new FCI/FCS godowns at Jiribam.
The body urged to deploy traffic police at Jiribam and adequate number of security forces along the highway.
It also stressed on the need to enforce inner line permit system in view of further extension of train service to the State.
The body also demanded for opening of railway reservation counter at MSRTC complex from 7 am to 7 pm.
It further said that Imphal-Jirbam road which was formerly known as NH-53 has been changed into NH-37 according to an order issued by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on March 5 last year.
It added that the road from Dimapur to Kohima is now known as NH-29 and from Kohima to Imphal as NH-2 .
