SDO Lilong launches Biometric Enrolment Exercise

"Biometric Enrolment Exercise" under the National Population Register (NPR) for the Sub-divisional Officer (SDO) Lilong has been launched in a function held at the SDO office premises today.
Chairman of the Lilong Nagar Panchayat, Md Shah Alam attended the function as chief guest which was presided by SDO Lilong Kimjalhai Kipgen.
Manipur in-charge of Bharat Electronic, V Kulkarni attended as guest of honour.
In his address, Md Shah Alam appealed to the people to cooperate with the officials in the exercise.
He said that in a state like Manipur where there is an insurgency movement, it will be very helpful to people, particularly the youth to possess biometric smart cards.
This card definitively indicates that the card holder is a citizen of the country.

SDO Kimjalhai Kipgen, while imparting awareness to the people about the Biometric Enrolment Exercise said that it is an exercise for collection of demographic data of individuals.
Such an exercise will be very helpful in the country's security, she added.
The exercise is being conducted by the local administration across the state at DC offices, SDO offices, schools, colleges and panchayats as part of the countrywide exercise, Kipgen said.
