Imphal, July 01, 2012:
Following a public apology by the publisher and a mutual agreement for consulting religious heads/authorities the controversy over depicting picture of Prophet Mohammed in the Prime GK Book Zero has been resolved amicably.
The rage was brought to an end at a meeting held this afternoon at the office of Jamiat-ul-Ulema, which was attended by the Book's publisher, Ulema functionaries and representatives of 15 Muslim pressure groups.
The meeting, presided by the Ulema chief Sahid Ahmad Moulana, decided to urge school authorities to deposit copies of controversial book at the office of Pangal Students Organisation and conveyed to all concerned to consult religious scholars or authorities before publishing books that contain Islamic content or is likely to hurt sentiment of the Muslim community.
The publisher concerned also made a fervent appeal against referential usage of the said book.
