Imphal, July 23:
A youth in his early 20s found in an unconscious state at his immediate neighbour's gate failed to recuperate and died after being brought home last night.
The deceased namely Luwangthem Roshan (22) s/o L Ingeljao of Keirao Wangkhem maning Leikai in Imphal East district was discovered unconscious by his neighbour's family at around 1.30 pm yesterday.
According to the neighbour Phijam Loidang Devi (50) a moaning sound was heard a few distance from her house and she woke up her children to enquire only to find Roshan.
Even though police registered the case as 'unnatural death' family sources suspect involvement of Roshan's 40 year old stepmother (Achoubi Devi) in his death.
Ingeljao (47) disclosed that he and Achoubi had a physical confrontation last evening and his second wife returned home sometime later in an inebriated state consequently resulting in another heated quarrel with Roshan.
on the otherhand, Roshan's 8 year old step-sister contended that the her mother hit Roshan with a stone apparently indicating that the youngster died of possible head injury.
Roshan's mother (Ibemcha) is said to have passed away some 14 years back and he used to sustain family income working as a mason.
The father is a tailor by profession.
In connection with the case, police have picked up Achoubi Devi this morning but declined to comment on the matter saying investigation is being conducted.
Roshan's body has been handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS morgue today.
