Ukhrul denizens are hard pressed for time to submit their Aadhar card to avail the benefits of MGNREGS, NFA, PMAY etc as it has become mandatory as per Govt rules but due to shortage of Biometric Enrolment Centre in the district it has become a big headache to take their finger prints which is mandatory for getting an Aadhar card .
According to official information, about 94055 people have had their photos taken for Aadhar card but only 81052 cards has been generated so far .
About 41991 people of the district are yet to take the needed photo.
The children who were born after 2011 could not get their Biometric Enrolment under UIDAI, due to acute shortage of the Biometric Enrolment (BME) Centre in the district .
The district administration has been persistently mounting pressure on the people to submit their Aadhar cards as it is mandatory for all to avail the different Government schemes but many people are yet to receive their Aadhar card .
Apart from shortage of BME centre, Ukhrul experiences frequent technical failure, snag with the kits/machine besides frequent breakdown of Internet services adding much woes to public .
Considering the immense hardships faced by the people the All Hunphun Tangs Association (AHTA) has submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul to look into the matter and for immediate intervention .
The memo also appealed to release the MGNREGS fund of Ukhrul district.
