State gets only Rs 2.64 crore under PMGAY

The Central Government has released only Rs 2.64 crore for construction of house for rural poor in the State under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaas Yojana (PMGAY) .
According to a reliable source, the Central Government sanctioned an amount of Rs 343.34 crore for the seven North East States under PMGAY also referred to as Housing for All on April 27 .
The State got only Rs 2.64 crore which is less than 1 percent of the total amount sanctioned for the seven North East States .
Of the total amount, Arunachal Pradesh got Rs 12.10 crore, Rs 259.85 crore for Assam, Rs 22.82 crore for Meghalaya, Rs 6.44 crore for Mizoram, Rs 8.32 crore for Nagaland and Rs 31.13 crore for Tripura .
The scheme was launched by Chief Minister N Biren at City Convention Center on June 29 last in the presence of Union Minister of RD & PR, Drinking Water & Sanitation, Narendra Singh Tomar .
The source said beneficiaries under the scheme are to be selected based on Socio Economic and Caste Census, 2011 .
Under the scheme, each beneficiary in the valley is entitled to get Rs 1, 20, 000 while each beneficiary in the hills is entitled to get Rs 1, 30, 000 .
