CPI Manipur Council, farmers protest

As a part of the ongoing protest since July 24 , against the Central and the State Government failure to provide relief aid and commission to the flood victims especially the farmers and to properly implement the NFSA Act , Communist Party of India Manipur State Council and Manipur Loumee Lup staged a sit in protest today at Kiyam Ningshing Shanglen, Bishnupur .
Ex-Minister and secretary of CPI Manipur State Council Dr M Nara Singh, ex-secretary of the Council L Iboyaima Singh, deputy secretary of the Council L Sotinkumar, farmer leaders Th Bijoy Singh and Ng Manglem Singh participated in the protest .
M Nara stated that the farmers and flood victims in the neighbouring States have received relief aid and several funds which have been sanctioned by their respective authorities, however, the Central and the State Government have not taken up any concrete initiatives for the victims of the State till date .
To ease the grievances of the farmers and people who have been severely affected by the flood, the CPI Manipur State Council urged the State Government to release the relief funds and to take up the necessary measures for the affected farmers before an agricultural crisis breaks out .
The two parties will continue to launch different forms of agitation if their demand is not heard, he stated .
Regarding the improper distribution of PDS items in the district, the Council has further urged to distribute the PDS items regularly and punctually to the people.
