CWC clarifies

Taking note of the allegations by the Women Wing of the Youth's Forum for Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) regarding alleged ill treatment and rude behaviour of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the Investigating Officer of case involving the two minor girls and for not providing a child friendly environment and the negligence shown by a member of Childline and a Committee Member, as reported in The Sangai Express, the CWC has clarified that Ibethoi Devi, Member of CWC, Imphal East, is a person of the highest integrity with an impeccable track record zealously rendering her services in the field of child related issues for the last many years.
A press release issued yesterday by the CWC also clarified that there has been no instance of ill treatment or rude behaviour by any of its members towards the two victim girls.
It pointed out that the victim girls as well as Sobita Mangsatabam of Women Action for Development (WAD), who appeared before the Committee, insisted on letting the girls appear their class XII practical examination on April 18 and the Committee , with help from the staff of DCPU, Imphal East and women personnel of Imphal East police station had made the necessary arrangements.
As their medical examinations could not be done on that day because of the practical examination, it was performed the next day, April 19, by the police, it added.
