M Rajen, Commandant 8 IRB, gave his statement as prosecution witness number 34 of the Seityabhama murder case before the Session Court Imphal East today and fixed for continuation of his statement on May 4.M Rajen, then Additional SP of Imphal East district was the supervising officer of the Special Investigation team constituted to carry out the investigation of the murder case, had appeared for the session trial case number 23 of 2013 and 90 of 2013 .
He submitted that the case record of Seityabhama was handed to him on April 7, 2013 and the case was initially investigated by SI Shamu of Irilbung police station, Imphal East who during the course of the investigation uncovered three mobile numbers suspected to have been used by the culprits of the crime.
During the investigation of CDRs and SDRs record of the three mobile numbers, it came to light that the main accused of the case was one Ksh Biju alias Hollendro s/o Ksh Ibochou of Thoubal Kshetri Leikai at present Irilbung bazar.
On April 8, 2013, at around 1 pm, they got a reliable information from their sources that the prime accused of the murder case was engaged in fishing in Iril river in front of R&H Gas Irilbung.
He along with the SIT team and Imphal East commando personnel rushed to the spot and arrested Biju from the spot at around 2 pm.
Two mobile handsets were recovered from the accused along with a moped which were handed over to Irilbung police station.
The Court heard his statement and fixed May 4 for his further statement as a prosecution witness.
It may be mentioned that the three accused of the case, Toijam Thesus alias Boy alias James s/o T Jugindro of Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai, Thoudam Jibon s/o (L) Thoiba of Irilbung Machahal Mayai Leikai and Kshetrimayum Biju alias Hollendro s/o Ibungo of Irilbung bazar, against whom the police have filed charge sheets are presently lodged in Sajiwa Central jail.
It may be mentioned that the body of Ningombam Seityabhama alias Penao (31) d/o N Tomba of Kakwa Laishram Selungbam Leikai, a Junior Research Fellow under the DBT Project on Pathology at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences was discovered in a partially decomposed state from a canal at Bashikhong Wangkhei Lowmanbi Loukon under Irilbung police station on the afternoon of April 5, 2013 .
