Imphal, July 23 2019:
Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan has alleged that the silence of the State Government on the death of Ningthoujam Babysana seems to be an attempt to divert the people away from the issue and to manipulate the truth.
Speaking to media persons at his residence, Joykisan said it is quite shocking that the Government has failed to make even a single statement even though it has been almost a week since Babysana's death.
He continued that some unconfirmed reports have suggested that the incident is a suicide case and questioned at such a young age of 12, is it really impossible to accept that Babysana could think about committing suicide.
Alleging that the death looks suspicious, the MLA asked why the Government is remaining silent even when the family members of the deceased are refusing to claim the body and are going through extreme anguish and sorrow.
Asking if the family members and media persons were denied entry to the hostel on the day Babysana was found dead, so as to tamper or get rid of any evidences, Joykisan said that it is extremely disappointing to witness the leaders busy with the power struggle instead of focusing on the death of a student.
This will invite only anger and protest from the people, he added.
On the other hand, Joykisan continued that it is also quite appalling to see many organisations and experts, bar a few student organisations, have not raised their voice.
The situation is the same with the political parties as well, he claimed.
Demanding the Government to hand over the case to he CBI if it is too afraid and powerless to do anything, Joykisan urged the Government to drop its pretentious act and come clean on whether it can take necessary action or if it is afraid to do so .
