Inter school cultural competition held

Loktak Brigade under the aegis of Red Shield Division conducted an inter school cultural competition as a part of Military Civic Action Project "Op Sadbhavana" at Noney ground on Feb 19.It is the first time that a competition for the students of Noney was organized to encourage them to bring out the different facets of their culture, according to a statement issued by the PRO, Defence, Imphal.
Noney village forms a part of one of the most remote parts of Tamenglong district.
Different schools in Noney are trying their level best to spread the light of education amongst the economically backward students.
A total of seven school teams participated in the competition.
Each teams participated in the traditional dance, cultural song, traditional fire making, solo song and solo dance events which ended with a cultural dress display by all the schools.
Colonel Rajiv Chaudhary, Commandant, 8 Assam Rifles attended the function as the chief guest.
The Commandant mentioned that the competition was a part of the efforts by the Red Shield Division to foster peace and harmony in Manipur.
A total of 150 students participated in the competition and around 2000 students and 400 civilians from Noney, Nungtek, Khumji, Rongkhong, Haochong and other surrounding villages witnessed the competition.
At the end of the gala event, the winners were presented with gift and cash prizes.
The function concluded with tea and refreshments, it added.
