Grand final of Manipur Idol held

The Grand Final of the Red Ribbon Superstar Manipur Idol 2010-11 of the Manipur State AIDS Control Society as part of its multimedia campaign was held today at BOAT, Palace Compound.
18 musical bands with two from each district of the nine districts of the state participated in the final.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar said that HIV/AIDS is like a war against the entire human race.
Collective effort is a must to root out this disease.
He assured to organise such event in a larger scale in future.
He urged the people for their active participation in the war against HIV/AIDS.
In a speech, Pradikpumar, Project Director, MACS said that Manipur is not only shining in the international arena in the field of sports, arts and culture but is also among the states which have highest records of AIDS infected people.
He urged the youth of the state to refrain from drugs and bad behavior.
Commissioner Health and Family Welfare, V Vumlunmang, UN AIDS Manipur State Coordinator Sushil, Deputy Director and officials of MACS, officials of NACO, ORCHID and members of various NGOs attended the grand finale today.
