More civil bodies based at Sadar Hills today have opposed the setting up of Commando outpost at Gamgiphai, Sadar Hills, our correspondent reports.
Motbung Area Women Union (MAWU) organized a meeting at Motbung today against the installation.
The union, in the meeting resolved to endorse other civil bodies in the protest against the setting up of Commando outpost at Gamgiphai.
The meeting, participated by thousand of Motbung area women was also attended by SAHILCA, Thadou Women Association, TSA, TYA, KWWO and other women organizations from different parts of the area while Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills attended as an observer.
Speaking at the function, MAWU president, Hechong Tuboi said the people of Motbung will oppose the Government's decision to station Imphal West Police Commandos at Gamgiphai and endorse every movement of the civil society organizations at Sadar Hills.
Meanwhile, Keithelmanbi Youth Association (KYA) also condemned the Commando operation on the night of April 30 at Keithelmanbi.
The KYA also expressed strong oppsition to the State Government's decision to install Commando outpost at Gamgiphai.
The association will join hands with the civil bodies of the area if the Government fails to withdraw the same.
Kuki Women Organization for Human Rights, Sadar Hills unit and Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills also opposed the establishment of the outpost at Gamgiphai.
In the meantime, with the expiry of the ultimatum served by Thadou bodies, CSOs based at Sadar Hills today resolved to hold a joint meeting to discuss the further course of agitation at Motbung.
The date and the venue for the joint meeting, however have not been disclosed.
