Imphal, July 02 2018:
The Thadou Students' Association, GHQs, Siamsinpawlpi, GHQs, Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation, North East India (RNSO-NEI) and Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi, Assam, Manipur & Nagaland (LNKR-AMN) have appealed Manipur University Students' Union' (MUSU) and Manipur University Teacher's Association (MUTA) to shim their agitation in the larger interest of the students and the university.
A "joint press release issued by secretary joint, TSA-GHQ, public relations officer, SSPP-GHQ, general secretary LNKR-AMN and education secretary, RNSO-NEI expressed extreme shock and sadness over the present situation in MU as a result of the protest by MUSU demanding removal of the Vice Chancellor, Prof Adya Prasad Pandey.
It said that the present issue can be resolved between the VC and the student's union amicably while adding that demanding the removal of the VC to the extent of plunging the whole academic atmosphere and the administration into chaos, as it has unfolded, is not a solution.
In light of the frequent disruption of the university's academic and administrative activities which affects the whole functioning of the university, it advocated that the Ministry of Human Resource Development, GoI should constitute an independent inquiry commission in order to settle the issues once and for all.
The joint press statement further stated that the allegations levelled by MUSU that the varsity's Vice Chancellor is incompetent, holds no ground and in fact contradicts the reality.
