Grid connected roof top solar power plant to continue at 60 % subsidy

Imphal, July 02 2018:
Informing that the scheme for installation of grid connected rooftop solar power plant under the joint venture of Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) and Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) in the State will be closed on July 30, Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar has asserted that the State Government will urge the authority concerned to continue the scheme at sixty percent subsidy in consideration of the public.
He made the statement as the chief guest during the inaugural function of the newly constructed building of Welfare Organization of Langol Ningthou Leikai along with the renovated community hall and grid solar power plant (8 kw) at the same locality.
Dy CM Joykumar further said that the Government has so far installed 70 percent of the grid connected roof solar power plant under Government subsidy while the remaining fund was produced by the said locality.
He underscored the importance of the project saying that it will go a long way towards tackling the problem of energy scarcity in the State and will also help in replacing hydro electric energy by solar energy to a large extent.
Pointing out that the most suitable source of energy for the State with one time investment is solar energy which is eco-friendly as well, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that the Government has been taking up the project considering of all these aspects.
On the other hand, general secretary of Welfare Organization of Langol Ningthou Leikai, Yumnam Rajesh lauded the Dy CM for taking up the initiatives in the locality as well as other development works adding that it has been neglected by the Government for the past many years.
The function was presided by M Kaminikumar Singh, retired Principal, JN Manipur Dance Academy while Yumlembam Khelchandra, Additional Director, MANIREDA, Manipur, Dr N Rajendro Singh, Deputy Director MDS and A Bimol Singh, president, USSAL attended as the guests of honour.
