TN Haokip Foundation merit awards distributed

HAC Chairman Z Kikhonbou Newmai today gave away TN Haokip Foundation Meritorious awards at M Songgel village in Siakot AC even as he expressed his personal desire to set up a trust on similar lines as the TNHF, to promote education at his home Constituency.
Newmai also released a souvenir titled Destiny published by the foundation to mark their decadal celebration.
TN Haokip Foundation was initiated by former Speaker and the third consecutive MLA of Saikot ten years back in his effort to encourage academic excellence in his political turf, especially in Science and Mathematics subjects.
Addressing the function, Newmai said it is equally important that students excel in their education and maintain good character.
He praised the initiative of Haokip, which he said was seen not in any other parts of the State but at Saikot.
The HAC Chairman also congratulated the meritorious students and acknowledged the untiring efforts of the teachers, their schools, and the parents for their success.
TN Haokip on his part said no country would move forward without education.
Likewise no politician, no bureaucrat or no businessman would prosper without knowledge, he said and called on the students of his Constituency to work hard especially in Science and Mathematics and made their home AC, the district and the State in general known a leader known for its feat in future.
Obed Letlensang Haokip of St Mary's was awarded the all-round toppers proze and received cash prize of Rs 20,000.Henry Lalchunghnung of Mt Carmel received the topper award in Mathematics, Lunminthang of Salt Brooke and Issac Lalthlawnpek shares the Science topper award with each of them receiving cash award of Rs 15,000 each while Greenwood Academy walks away with the school of the year award.
