Opium seized

Imphal, May 29 2012:
Narcotic Cell of Imphal West district seized 8 kgs of opium worth Rs 2 lakh in the local market (over Rs 3 lakh in the international market) from a peddler yesterday around 5.30pm at Thamnapokpi Meitei Lamkhai under Lamlai PS.
The opium was seized from one Seilet Kipgen (28) son of Seikhotinthang of Boljang Village in Senapati district.
According to Th Shanti, OC of the district Narcotic Cell, the team led by him, with assistance from 23 AR personnel of Yaingangpokpi Post, arrested the man along with the contraband item based on specific information.

He said the drive was taken up under the supervision of the district SP.
The arrested man would be handed over to the concerned PS for investigation.
