Four including major drug supplier held

A combined team of Thoubal district police and All Lilong Anti Drug Committee, pulled up 4 individuals including a major drug supplier from Lilong and Porompat area last night, apart from seizing license guns, drug items and Rs 5,54,700 in cash.
Displaying the arrested individuals along with the seized items before media persons at Lilong PS, Thoubal today afternoon, Sarangthem Ibomcha, Thoubal SP, stated that at around 11.30 pm yesterday, acting on reliable information regarding the presence of some drug buyers/sellers in Lilong Turel Ahanbi area, a team of Lilong PS, rushed to the area and launched a frisking and checking operation.
During the operation, a Maruti A Star car with two occupants, was stopped and during checking, seven cough syrup bottles were recovered.
As such, the two occupants, identified as Md Sabi Ahemad (27) s/o Suleima of Lilong Ushoipokpi Tamyai and Md Hassan (25) s/o Md Abdul Gaffar of Lilong Ushoipokpi Tamyai were detained.
On interrogation, they disclosed that they purchased the cough syrups from one Md Riyajuddin (40) s/o (L) Serajuddin of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Mathak and in follow up action, Lilong police, assisted by members of All Lilong Anti Drug Committee, rushed to Lilong Turel Ahanbi Mathak and raided the residence of Md Riyajuddin thus recovering 57 cough syrup bottles.
Riyajuddin disclosed that the cough syrup bottles were purchased from one Md Abdul Rajak of Porompat Muslim Leirak number 2 and as such, a team of Thoubal district police team along with a team of Imphal East Narcotic Cell rushed to Porompat and raided the house of Abdul Razak (45) s/o (L) Md Adbul Manan of Porompat Muslim Leirak number 2 .
The police team recovered 3980 SP capsules, 150 N-10 tablets and 45 bottles of cough syrup from his possession.
On further search, the police team also recovered one 0.32 revolver along with six live rounds, one single barrel gun, two mobile phone handset and Rs 5,54,700 in cash.
A regular case has been registered against the arrested individuals under the ND&PS Act for taking up necessary action as per the law of the land, the SP said, adding that Thoubal district police were able to arrest the individuals due to the support and co operation from the members of All Lilong Anti Drug Committee.
He also expressed hope that the members of ALADA will offer such support in the efforts taken up by Thoubal district police to eradicate drugs from the district from time to time.
