Churachandpur, March 10 2015:
A man who was arrested last month for sexually abusing two girl inmates while working as an administrator at the North Eastern Children Home is likely to be slapped with more charges as the police are certain it will expose at least six to seven more new cases against him, reports our correspondent.
Allegations of the sexual assault first came to light after two minor victims recounted the incidents in a letter addressed to the district Superintendent of Police in February.
With several reports stating the figure could be more, the police have evidently widened their investigation, prioritise the case and have now claimed that they are certain to get some more evidences.
A top ranking police official has promised that the accused, who was charged under section 354/376 (c) of the IPC and Section 6 & 10 of the PoSC Act, would be chargesheeted very soon.
In the meantime, some of the parents told reporters today that they are yet to meet their children and claimed that they had learned about the incidents from others.
It may be noted that parents do not have easy access to their children inside the children home.
Even after two weeks of filing an FIR against the accused, the parents are still waiting to meet their traumatised children.
Speaking to reporters, the parents said that they were informed that they could meet their children only after the accused is convicted.
On the other hand, a 10-year-old girl was reportedly abducted by a woman on Sunday around 5.30 pm apparently with a motive to snatch her earring.
The girl however managed to escape and sought help from people on the road.
She reportedly claimed that the abductor had threatened to stab her with a knife if she tried to escape.
