Assn threatens severe stir over pending pension

All Manipur Autonomous District Council Retired Employees Welfare Association staged a sit-in-protest at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall has warned of launching different modes of severe agitation if the pending pensions for the retired employees under Autonomous District Councils are not release before Ningol Chakkouba festival .
Pressing the demand, the association staged a sit-in-protest at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall today .
Speaking to media persons, advisor of the association, T Kirankumar said that of the 7000 retired employees under the six ADCs, around 500 have passed away even without getting their pensions .
He reminded that Government of Manipur in 1991 issued an order assuring that the pending pensions for the retired employees would be released .
He said that in this regard the Government published a gazette which was approved by the Finance Department .
The Department had also assured that a pension cell would be set up as well.
The Government has not fulfilled any of the assurances till date, he lamented .
Regretting that they are finding it hard to look after their families, he threatened that the association will launch different forms of intense agitation if the pensions for them are not released before Ningol Chakkouba festival .
Members of the association held placards reading “Create Pension Cell immediately”, “Our colleagues wait pension at heaven”, “We want pension before we die” etc at the protest site.
