Imphal, July 04 2012:
Four unidentified persons have abducted one Manggoulen Misao, a 4th semester student of MU's History department, yesterday around 6pm from his residence located at Chassad Avenue, Sanjenthong in Imphal East.
Manggoulen is the youngest son of Thangkam Misao, a sitting MDC of Saikul DCC.
He is currently taking the ongoing 4th Semester exam and is due to write another paper on July 6 .
Meanwhile, taking strong exception to the abduction of the student, the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) General Headquarters has fervently appealed the abductors concerned to release the student by 6 pm of July 5 while cautioning to take stringent measure against the people or group involved in the abduction if they fail to respond by the said time.
Stating that Manggoulen is also serving as the Chairman of Youth Fellowship, Kuki Baptist Church, Parish No 1, the KSO statement said that no blemish account of his conduct has been recorded in the past.
The KSO further stated that nothing gainful but indignation and public antipathy would come out against the abductors from this devious act.
The Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council has also condemned the kidnapping.
Speaking to The Sangai Express chairman of the Sadar Hills ADC, Haokholal Hangsing said that on March 19 this year, Thangkam Misao, father of the student, was also abducted.
Hangsing said that the abduction of the young student is a significant reminder of the lack of security amongst the people and urged the Government to provide adequate security to the public.
