3rd Amur festival organised

Tamenglong, November 03 2017:
The 3rd Amur Falcon festival, Tamenglong was held at Indoor stadium, tamenglong Headquarters today with MLA of 53 AC, Samuel Jendai as chief guest .
State Coordinator of Indian Bird Conservator Network, Dr RK Birjit Singh attended the festival as resource person .
Speaking on the occasion, Samuel Jendai elaborated on the history of migration of Amur falcons from Siberia to North Eastern States namely Nagaland and Tamenglong .
It is believed that the migration of Amur falcons denotes a bountiful harvest, since the birds feed on grasshoppers and flying termites and reduce the damage on the rabi crops .
While pointing out that Tamenglong covers maximum area of forest, he urged all the people to protect the forest, nature and Amur falcon .
Cultural dance and songs were also presented during the ceremony.
