Daily positivity rate dips, recoveries outnumber new cases
621 new cases, 10 deaths reported; 37-year-old woman becomes third case of black fungus

The state is witnessing steady decline in the daily positivity rate with the rate of infection falling below 15 per cent for the last three consecutive days as government bulletins reported 621 new cases out of 5767 samples tested along with 10 death cases on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a 37-year-old woman from Bishnupur district has been diagnosed with Mucormycosis at Raj Medicity and she became the third case of Black Fungus in the state.
She had undergone oxygen therapy and received steroid after being diagnosed with Covid-19 earlier.
She was diagnosed with the infection on Wednesday.
Active cases of Covid-19 has also declined to 8863 with 4734 recuperating in home isolation and the remaining 4129 undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities including district hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
So far, 24,711 positive cases and 494 fatalities have been reported since the beginning of the current year.
On the other hand, 5788 new cases and 101 fatalities were added to the tally in the last seven days.

The first three days of the current month reported 2148 new cases and 42 fatalities.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 10 Covid-19 deaths with Imphal West registering one death, Imphal East (5), Thoubal (1), Kakching (2) and Chandel (1).They passed away at RIMS (2), JNIMS (4), Shija Hospitals (2), CHC Chakpikarong (1) and CCC Bal Bhavan (1) .
The cumulative number of deaths is 849.According to official reports, out of the 621 new cases, 620 people (314 male & 306 female) are from among the general population and one is Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) jawan.
Their samples were tested at RIMS (43), JNIMS (20), District Hospitals (300) and other testing centres (258).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (137), Imphal West (266), Thoubal (67), Bishnupur (51), Kakching (13), Ukhrul (3), Churachandpur (17), Chandel (15), Senapati (1), Tamenglong (28), Tengnoupal (8), Kangpokpi (11), Pherzawl (2) and Jiribam (1) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 783 patients were discharged from home isolation (591), RIMS (20) and Covid Care facilities (172) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 52,899 (general population - 49,136 and CAPF personnel - 3,763) .
Number of recovered cases is 43,187 (general population - 39,456 and CAPF personnel - 3,731) and number of active cases is 8,863 (general population - 8,836 and CAPF personnel - 27) .
The recovery rate is 81.64 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 787 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 425B- type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities and Central Medical Store in the Directorate of Health Services has 650 D type cylinders in stock.
District Hospitals and government institutions have 378D, 58B filled cylinders and district/sub-division wise distribution of the stock position is Bishnupur (40D,0B), Chandel (32D,7B), Churachandpur (73D,0B), Senapati (40D,0B), Thoubal (66D,22B), Ukhrul (15D,2B), Tamenglong (33D,5B), Jiribam (36D,11B), Moreh (21D,5B), Kamjong (3D,1B), Kangpokpi (3D,0B), Kakching (10D,2B), Noney (2D,0B) and Pherzawl (4D,3B) .
So far, 4,01,133 individuals have been vaccinated against Covid-19 and 80,554 people have received their second dose.
Meanwhile, 50 new positive cases were detected in Kakching district on Thursday.
One case was detected at Ema Hospital, 11 at Jivan Hospital and 38 at government RAT centre.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (19,047), Imphal East (12,319), Thoubal (3921), Churachandpur (3819), Kangpokpi (1472), Tamenglong (1866), Bishnupur (2941), Senapati (1239), Ukhrul (1169), Kakching (2207), Chandel (888), Noney (513), Tengnoupal (524), Jiribam (494), Kamjong (403) and Pherzawl (77) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (319), Imphal East (223), Thoubal (78), Churachandpur (66), Kangpokpi (21), Tamenglong (8), Bishnupur (53), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (12), Kakching (41), Chandel (13), Noney (2), Tengnoupal (4), Jiribam (2), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 17,048 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 20,516 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,37,140 tests per million population against the national average of 2,54,071 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.60 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 5767 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 10.77 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 7.19 per cent.
