With construction of the Kanglatongbi bridge along National Highway-39 which has been going on for the last many years almost completed, the same is likely to be dedicated to the people by next month.
Although the construction of the wing walls of the bridge on its four corners had not been included in the DPR, after the Works Minister and the Chief Engineer approached and exerted pressure, the Union Ministry had recently approved construction of the wing walls and subsequently the work had been taken up.
Acting on the instruction of Works Minister K Ranjit Singh, the Chief Engineer of Works Department Tonsana Sharma today visited the work site to inspect the progress of the bridge construction.
After the inspection, the Chief Engineers also instructed the workers to complete construction of the bridge within 15 days at the maximum.
Later talking to The Sangai Express, the Chief Engineer informed that construction work on the bridge had been delayed for sometime as a result of some personal problem of the contractor M Chaoba.
However, over the past few days, there has been lot of progress in the work.
The State Govt is targeting to inaugurate the bridge on August 15 and looking at the work progress, it is hopeful that the bridge would be completed in time, the Chief Engineer expressed confidence.
