As part of the National Action Plan to observe the Girl Child Labour Free Year, 2004, declared by Campaign Against Child Labour CACL), the Manipur Chapter of CACL today organised a State level convention at State Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak today.
Speaking at the convention, Central convenor, CACL Arun Das pointed out that the main problem of child labour in India is inefficiency of Government who had not chalked out a definite plan on economic growth and political awareness of villagers.
In order to save young children from being exploited, the Government should formulate a proper economic planing for children, he noted.
National Convenor CACL Rajan Mohanty said that more than a million children are being exploited in many sectors.
He also expressed grave concern over rise in the cases of sex-abuse of children in India.
Around 40 representatives of different NGOs took part in the convention during which the participants interacted with the resource persons for a better understanding of the problem.
