'Emergency Response Team Training' programme concludes

The five-day 'emergency response team training' programme conducted by Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur branch concluded today at THAU Ground, thangmeiband.
The training programme was conducted from September 23 under the sponsorship of International Committee of Red Cross, New delhi.
The closing programme was attended by Red Cross Society members Dr M Lala, Prof Y Mohen, Prof Jodhchandra Sanasam and Dr Arunkanta Koijam while N Amulkumar, O Ratan, Devjeet Athokpam and T Jinesh were the facilitators of the five-day training programme, which was participated by 30 trainees from different districts of the State.
While focus of the training was on rendering emergency service and administering first aid in case of natural or man-made disasters, the concluding day saw the trainees exhibiting methods of treatment, rescue and first aid to victims of a bomb blast.
According to Red Cross Society Manipur branch member Narendra Ningomba till date over 4000 people have been provided first aid in various emergency cases.
citing the incidents of bomb blasts at Sangakpam bazar and Sangai Festival venue as some cases of emergency, he said Red Cross Society volunteers took active role in evacuating the victims to medical centres in addition to providing first aid as well as donating blood.
With the exception of chandel district, Red Cross Society has branches in all the other districts, informed Narendra while stating that Chandel district unit will be set up very soon.
further stating that these branches are being established to ensure swiftness and coordination in emergency situations, he said there are about 1400 Society volunteers in Manipur.
