Land owners react, set record straight

Reacting to a news report published on October 13, the Land and Properties Owners Association NH 37/39 has contended that the proposal for Rs 935 crore for payment of land compensation and Rs 2000 crore for re-alignment of the Imphal-Jiribam highway as reported in the news item was not related to the land acquisition proceedings.
According to a press release issued by the association, consequent upon a decision adopted by the State Cabinet, the Deputy Secretary (Works), Government of Manipur issued an order on March 5, 2013 to the effect that land compensation would be paid to the rightful land owners for the affected land by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways under National Highway Act 1956.In continuation with the proceedings, the Deputy Secretary (Revenue) forwarded the status of land acquisition to the General Manager (P), NHIDCL, (BO Imphal) on August 22, 2017 .
The General Manager (P), NHIDCL, (BO Imphal), then forwarded a letter to General Manager (T), NHIDCL, New Delhi on September 27, 2017 demanding payment of reasonable compensation amount in connection with the land acquisition proceeding under the care of MoRTH, the Land and Properties Owners Association NH 37/39 added.
