Woman UG cadre, drug peddler held

Imphal, August 21 2017:
mphal East district police personnel arrested a 50 year old woman member of KCP (Military Joint Council) and a drug peddler with around Rs 1.50 lakh worth of drugs, in two separate incidents today .
Briefing media persons at his office chamber today, Imphal East SP K Kabib stated that they received specific information about the presence of some underground cadres at Thongju Pheija Leitong area .
A team of Imphal East police under his supervision and under the command of Additional SP (Ops) M Kumarjeet and Imphal East OC (Commando), Inspector B Lunthang Vaiphei, rushed to the spot and carried out search operation .
The police arrested one Naorem Sanahanbi (50) w/o (L) N Dolendro of Kakwa Naorem Leikai .
During preliminary interrogation, she revealed that she is presently working under the command of her son, N Dilip, an active member of KCP (Military Joint Council) who is operating from Nepal .
Sanahanbi also revealed that she had collected extortion money on her son's behalf four times in the past .
She was arrested from the spot after observing necessary formalities.
The police also seized Rs 24,000 in cash, one mobile phone along with two sim cards from her possession .
In another incident, the same district police team, conducted intensified frisking and checking at New Checkon Tribal market at around 3.30 pm and detained an individual on suspicion .
During preliminary interrogation, the individual identified himself as Lalkhanlen Lupheng alias Khanpu (33) s/o (L) Jangkhosei Lupheng of Saikhul Laplen village .
On checking the individual, the police found six polythene bags packed with heroin powder, weighing around 76 grams and worth around Rs 1,50,000, concealed in six soap cases inside his bag .
The heroin powder was seized in the presence of some independent witnesses from the spot and the individual was arrested after observing necessary formalities.
