Imphal, June 21 2013 :
With reference to Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur's (ZSUM) press statement published in this paper on June 11, Chairman of Zeliangrong Union (ZU) Tamei Zone Ch Champonbou has reminded the concerned Government/people to clarify whether the already sanctioned fund of Rs 1.8 crore released under the 13th Finance Commission meant for filling up the loopholes in the grassroots level, Rs 44 lakhs under LOC and Rs 81 lakhs released for maintenance of ADC Tamenglong last year withdrawn in the month of May 2013 have been done as per the guidelines or misused.
A press release of the ZU said that it was also learnt that 40% of the fund has been shared to ADC members for implementation under Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF) and there are also many centrally sponsored schemes like Indira Awaaz Yojana (IAY) and many schemes under Tribal Development in which some percentages are deducted for ADC members for its implementation.
All these schemes/development programmes have been implementing in Tamenglong District since the election of the District Council in 2010.However, since today the public of Tamenglong District have not seen any sign of development under these various schemes in the area, the release deplored.
The ZU Tamei Zone then questioned the concerned ADC members of Tamenglong District about how these funds have been utilized by them and to answer the people of Tamenglong District about the whereabouts of these various schemes meant for the development of the neglected district.
