Security forces arrest eight militants of different outfits

Security forces have arrested eight militants from different places of the State during the last few days.
Troops of Senapati Brigade under Red Shield Division apprehended three insurgents of different UG groups.
In the first operation on June 15, one insurgent of Kuki National Front (Nehlun) was apprehended from Turibari village of Senapati district, according to a statement issued by the PRO (Defence), Imphal.
The cadre was identified as Lunkhomang Kipgen (25) s/o Lalpao Kipgen of Lhangnomphai village of Senapati district.
He was apprehended along with one mobile handset, five SIM cards of different service providers along with a driving license and a memory card.
In another operation on June 16, a hard-core cadre of United Naga People's Council (UNPC) was apprehended from Motbung village.
The cadre was identified as Jonah Inpui (42) s/o Renjin Inpui of Motbung village of Senapati district.
He was apprehended along with one rubber stamp of 'Information and Publicity Secretary' of the group, a rubber stamp each of the general secretary, home secretary, finance secretary along with two letter pads bearing the name of the insurgent group and an extortion letter pad.
In another operation on the same morning, a cadre of PLA was apprehended from Leitanpokpi village of Senapati district.
The cadre was identified as Maipaksana (24) s/o L Hemanta of Leitanpokpi village of Senapati district.
He was apprehended along with a 9 mm pistol and a magazine along with two live rounds.
The apprehended insurgents along with the recoveries were handed over to police for further investigation, it said.
Meanwhile, on June 13, a combined team of district police commando Bishnupur and 12 Bihar Regiment conducted a search operation at Phoijing Kaboklei Bazar and arrested one cadre of PREPAK (Pro) namely, Heirangkhongjam Romesh Singh alias Ibungo (41) S/o (L) H Chandramani Singh of Nambol Phoijing Awang Leikai, according to a statement issued by the PRO of Police Department.
Investigation revealed that he was involved in extortion of money from general public, collection of information for planning ambush against security forces, transportation of arms and ammunition and recruiting of new cadres for their organisation.
A case has been registered at Nambol Police Station and investigation is going on, it said.
On June 14, a team of district police commando Imphal East conducted frisking and checking at Ngariyan Chingkhong Andro crossing and arrested one active member of KCP (Poirei), namely, Laiphrakpam Chaoba Meitei alias Nanao alias Solomon (26) S/o L Sanatomba Meitei of Bashikhong Panthoibi Bazar.
Four 36 HE grenades, four detonators and one mobile handset were seized from his possession, it said while adding that a case has been registered at Andro Police Station and investigation is going on.
The same day, based on a reliable information, a combined team of Bishnupur district police commando, 6 AR and 2 JAKLI conducted search operation at Moirang Hemam Leikai area and arrested one active member of KYKL.
The cadre has been identified as Hemam Somen Singh alias Thoungamba (33) S/o H Hongba Singh of Moirang Hemam Leikai.
Investigation revealed that he was involved in lobbing one hand grenade at the Moirang Kiyam Leikai house of M Prithviraj Singh, MLA, the Police PRO said.
On follow up action the same day, Bishnupur district police commandos also arrested one active member of KYKL, namely, Sagolsem Abung alias Umesh Singh (31) S/o S Nimai Singh of Moirang Shribon Leikai from Kwakeithel Heinou Khongnembi.
Investigation revealed that he was also involved in lobbing of hand grenade at Moirang Kiyam Leikai residence of M Pritiviraj Singh, MLA.
Two cases have been registered in this connection at Moirang Police Station and Singjamei Police Station respectively and investigation is going on.
On the same day, Bishnupur district police commandos conducted search operation at Shribon Leikai and arrested one active member of KYKL namely, Heisnam Ibomcha Singh (47) S/o (L) H Iboton Singh of Moirang Shribon Leikai.
A case has been registered at Moirang Police Station and investigation is going on, the statement added.
