NERFL clarifies on allegation

Regarding a news item published in some sections of the media, North East Region Finservices Ltd (NERFL) has clarified that the company is an NBFC registered body under RBI License No B-08-00177 and ROC Regd No 2PLC-008241 .
A statement issued by the copmany said that NERFL has been strictly following RBI guidelines since its inception.
As far as the interest rate on charges on Micro-Finance Entrepreneurs are concerned, the company clarifies that it has been strictly following the Malegam Committee Report of RBI in which the interest rate is less than 26 percent per annum.
Therefore, the allegation made by Haoneipao alias HK Vaiphei, General Secretary, Association of Human Rights Activities Manipur (AHRAM) is false and unfounded, the statement added.
It further alleged that Association of Human Rights Activities Manipur (AHRAM) is an organization which is run by Haoneipao alias HK Vaiphei to vend out his personal interest in the name of a bogus association which has 'self made executive members' whose name appeared in the organization executive was not known by them Vide No RS/5/Misc/09(Pt) Dated 18-06-2013 issued by Registrar of Societies, Manipur.
The statement further said that Haoneipao alias HK Vaiphei, general secretary, Association of Human Rights Activities, Manipur (AHRAM) had made false allegations against NERFL on many occasions.
In this regard, NERFL had filed a defamation suit and criminal charge was filed against Haoneipao alias HK Vaiphei and he was arrested by police and lodged at Sajiwa central jail.
It added that Executive Director of Reserve Bank of India, Guwahati had conducted verification of North East Region Finservices Ltd and no excessive rate of interest as charged by Haoneipao alias HK Vaiphei was found.
