Mirabai assures incentives for meritorious blind students

The 39th Foundation Day celebration of Government Ideal Blind School, Takyelpat was held at the conference hall of the school today.
The function was graced by Ak Mirabai, Social Welfare Minister and Preshaw Shimray, MLA of Chingai A/C as Chief Guest and President respectively.
G Satyabati, Director, Social Welfare Department and Shonlien Kiloung, founder of Ideal Blind School were also present as Guests of Honour of the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ak Mirabai stated that all human beings are equal in the eyes of law.
A person cannot be treated in inferior just because he/she is physically challenged.
A physically challenged person has the ability to do what a normal person can do.
And at times, they even perform better than a normal person.
She went on to say that if there is a physically challenged person in our family we should not feel shy of taking him/her in public.
They should be allowed to enjoy all the rights enjoyed by a normal person.
We should all take equal responsibility in developing the state.
As such all parents should not keep their children indoor on the ground that they are physically challenged.
Mirabai also informed that students of Government Blind School who pass in 1st, 2nd and 3rd divisions in Matric exam would be awarded cash prize of Rs 10,000; Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 each from next year onwards by the Social Welfare Department.
Apart from this, all the students of this School who manage to get Gold, Silver or Bronze medal in State and National level events would also be awarded Rs 5000, 4000 and 3000 respectively.
During the function, students of Government Ideal School, who came in 1st and 2nd Division in Matric exam, 2012 were honoured with cash prizes.
