Saikul MLA Yamthong exhorts youth

Imphal, August 24 2012: Yamthong Haokip has said that youths love sports but due to lack of facilities and guidance they could not prosper.

Inaugurating Khanglai Football Club, also known as F.C Khanglai in Saikul on Thursday, the local MLA exhorted that youths who love sports should be given a chance to prosper in the discipline of sports of their choice.

"If this is done, wealth, name and fame can be earned while doing away the bad habit of indulging in unaccepted activities," stated Yamthong Haokip, who is the MLA from Saikul.

Attended by leaders of Kuki Inpi, Saikul, Kuki Students Organisation (KSO) of Saikul area, Saikul Hill Town members, ADC members, village chiefs of Saikul area in the inauguration function of Khanglai Football Club, YamthongHaokip assured the gathering that he would extend help whatever he can to promote sports in his constituency.

He then exhorted the members of Khanglai Footbal Club (F.C Khanglai) to move forward relentlessly in promoting football for the harvest of youth talents in Saikul sub division.

"Determination, will power and health are the essential parts of an ideal sports person," said Yamthong Haokip.

Noted social worker and President of Kuki Inpi, Saikul Area Thangkam Lupheng also attended the function.

When asked by NNN about the sports potential in Saikul area, Thangkam Lupheng stated that if given proper grooming many Messis, Maradonas, Ronaldos and Peles may come up from Saikul area.

He also said that almost all the people in his area are greater football lovers though they also love other disciplines of sports.

"The all time favuorite here is football and there are many excellent sports persons here but the only thing is to groom them properly and provide the needed facilities," stated the social worker.

Pastor L James dedicated the Khanglai Football Club with a soulful prayer.
