Imphal, March 06 2013:
Members of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly today paid rich tributes to its departed colleague namely Th Achouba, who represented Khangabok Assembly Constituency for three terms in between 1972 and 1980 .
Leading the House during the obituary reference, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh described the former CPI legislator as a sincere and dedicated political leader.
In his comment, Speaker Th Lokeshore said that demise of Th Achouba would remain an irreparable loss for the people of Manipur.
Members present also observed two minutes silence in honour of the departed soul.
While the opening session proceeded in a decorous, traffic jams marked some of the routes through which the legislators were meant to pass through.
Substantial presence of security forces and traffic police personnel along the said routes failed to ease traffic congestion or mollify the motorists as unannounced route diversion enforced by the men in uniform was vocally protested by many.
While the normally congested Nagamapal road was relatively convenient for atleast today, traffic jams were largely evident at Khoyathong, Chingmeirong and North AOC traffic points.
