Imphal, April 30 2012:
The 12-hour Manipur bandh called on Monday by Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Council) to boycott the visit of Union Additional Secretary of Home Shambhu Singh had a mixed response in the state.
The visit of Shambhu Singh to Manipur was reportedly for holding talks with some underground groups for signing Suspension of Operation (SoO).
Inter-state and inter-district vehicles ferrying passengers and goods were off the road, though vehicles carrying passengers inside Imphal could be seen in few numbers.
Private vehicles in large number could be seen plying in the city.
Business establishments, markets, shopping centers and educational institutions were closed for the day.
It may be mentioned that the armed outfit has cautioned the people to be alert as there is possibility of bomb blasts at the sites where the Union Additional Secretary would be going.
