Lamka, January 14, 2011:
A day after a thirty-five year old man was found murdered near his house in Tualnuam village, it has been established that an illicit affair between the victim's wife and a man who has confessed was the main reason behind the murder.
The startling revelation was made by the ZRO/ZRA functionaries today, as they produced Lalremsiem, 36 son of Khuptinhau of Tangmual village, the murder accused before the media.
According to the outfit, they initiated an independent investigation following the recovery of Ngamneihlian's body and zeroed in on Lalremsiem, a cousin of the victim.
As the armed group took Lalremsiem in their custody for interrogation early today, he allegedly confessed before them that he had indeed killed Ngamneihlian while trying to persuade him to abandon his plans of shifting himself and his entire family to another location.
He also confessed to having an affair with the victim's wife Jenny Chongneihlian.
Jenny also allegedly told the ZRA interrogators that their illicit affairs have been going on for the past one year, and that she herself saw their cousin (her lover) trying to strangulate her husband the night before the dead body was recovered.
I ran outside my house at around 11 pm that night as I heard my husband screaming, only to see Lalremsiem (the accused) trying to strangulate my husband with a rope,' she was quoted as saying.
As Lalremsiam instructed her to return home, she allegedly did so without any protest, she recounted.
It was after a while that Lalremsiam returned to inform that her husband was already dead.
In fact she has refrain from revealing all these incidents until the ZRA took her to their custody later today.
It is learnt that the ZRA have later in the evening handed the duo accused in the case over to the Vaiphei Peoples Council (VPC) Ghq that in turn handed it over to the police.
Police sources added that the duo have been immediately shifted to Imphal.
