Covid claims 20 lives for second time, 624 test positive

Imphal, May 18 2021:
For the second time in just over a week, COVID-19 claimed 20 lives, pushing the death toll to 612, according to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
The contagion killed 20 people on May 11.Nine of the latest victims belonged to Imphal East while five were residents of Imphal West.
The victims from Imphal East were aged 42 (male), 76 (male), 59 (male), 60 (female), 38 (male), 54 (female), 42 (male), 63 (female) and 82 (male) .
The victims from Imphal West were aged 84 (male), 75 (female), 88 (female), 60 (male) and 52 (male).
The other victims were aged 28 (female, Churachandpur), 47 (male, Churachandpur), 52 (male, Thoubal), 73 (female, Ukhrul) 44 (male, Kakching) and 63 (female, Senapati) .
The 20 victims expired at Shija Hospital (6), Churachandpur district hospital (2), Thoubal district hospital (1), Ukhrul district hospital (1), RIMS (6) and JNIMS (4).In the meantime, 624 people were tested positive at RIMS, JNIMS, Imphal West, Imphal East, Maipakpi Hospital, Mother's Care Hospital, CMC, Samaritan Hospital, Gilead Health Care Centre, Raj Medicity, Ema Hospital, Christian Hospital, Asian Hospital, Imphal Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Shija Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Escent Diagnostics, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Churachandpur, Chandel, Senapati, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Kangpokpi, Noney and Pherzawl.
The are residents of Imphal West (270), Imphal East (129), Thoubal (43), Bishnupur (67), Kakching (32), Ukhrul (7), Churachandpur (43), Chandel (18), Senapati (3), Tamenglong (2), Tengnoupal (2), Kangpokpi (2), Noney (4) and Pherzawl (2) .
However, not a single positive case was detected out of six air passengers tested for COVID-19 at Imphal airport today.
Air passengers who came to the State on May 14 by Air India flight AI-715 in rows 8-14 have been informed to report to the COVID-19 Common Control Room on 1800-345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officers for further surveillance and necessary testing.
During the last 24 hours, 337 people who had been undergoing treatment for COVID-19 were discharged from home isolation (213), CAPF (8), RIMS (5), JNIMS (3), RD Wing (4), BB (6), NSU (5), Shija Hospital (13), Babina Speciality Hospital (2), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (10), Churachandpur district hospital (7), Jivan Hospital (2), Thoubal (13), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (17), Chandel (1), Churachandpur (16), Tamenglong (3) and Jiribam (4) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 40,683 (general population 36,978 and Central security personnel 3,705) .
This figure includes 6605 active cases (general population 6442 and Central security personnel 163) and 33,466 recovered cases (general population 29,929 and Central security personnel 3,537) .
The recovery rate as on Tuesday is 82.26 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1364 D type Oxygen cylinders and 521 B type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of the State.
So far, 3,18,586 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the State as per the latest information provided by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Further, all eligible persons have been advised to get vaccinated at vaccination centres of RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs and select private hospitals.
