Death toll surges by 14, active cases cross 9000 again with 791 new cases

The State's COVID-19 death toll has climbed to 863 after 14 persons died due to the virus at RIMS, JNIMS, Shija Hospital and Raj Medicity during the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the total number of active cases has crossed 9000 once again as 791 positive cases were detected at RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals and other testing centres.
This is a steep climb from the 620 cases reported on June 3 .
According to a bulletin issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, eight of the 14 persons who have succumbed to the virus were residents of Imphal East district.
The others were residents of Imphal West (3), Bishnupur (1), Thoubal (1) and Kangpokpi (1) .
Among the 791 people who have been confirmed to be COVID-19 positive out of 7,689 samples tested during the last 24 hours, 271 belong to Imphal West, 167 to Imphal East, 84 to Thoubal, 49 to Bishnupur, 52 to Kakching, three to Ukhrul, 89 to Churachandpur, 23 to Chandel, nine to Senapati, three to Tamenglong, six to Tengnoupal, 24 to Kangpokpi, six to Kamjong, four to Noney and one to Jiribam.
Following recovery, 592 COVID-19 positive people have been discharged from home isolation (380), 11 from RIMS, four from JNIMS and 197 from different COVID care facilities.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 53,690 (general population 49,927 and Central security personnel 3,763) .
It includes 9,048 active cases (general population 9,029 and Central security personnel 19) and 43,779 recovered cases (general population 40,040 and Central security personnel 3,739).The recovery rate stands at 81.54 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 928 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 410 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the State.
In addition, 650 D-type cylinders are available in the central medical store of the Directorate of Health Services, according to the bulletin.
As per latest information provided by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 4,03,677 people have been vaccinated against the contagion in the State.
