Recovered cases outnumber new cases to bring down active caseload to below 9000

Even as the COVID-19 death toll has climbed to 849 following the death of 10 more persons due to the contagion during the last 24 hours, the total number of active cases has declined below the 9000 mark.
On Wednesday, the total number of active cases was 9035 but it has declined to 8,863 as 783 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours.
In the meantime, 620 civilians and one CAPF personnel were tested COVID-19 positive at RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals and other testing centres, informed a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
This is also a decline from the last few days when the daily infection stood above the 700 mark.
On June 1, Manipur reported 798 fresh cases and on June 2, the tally was 729.One May 31 the infection in 24 hours was 869 .
The 620 people who have been tested positive belong to Imphal West (266), Imphal East (137), Thoubal (67), Bishnupur (51), Kakching (13), Ukhrul (3), Churachandpur (17), Chandel (15), Senapati (1), Tamenglong (28), Tengnoupal (8), Kangpokpi (11), Pherzawl (2) and Jiribam (1) .
During the last 24 hours, 10 persons died due to COVID-19 at RIMS, JNIMS, Shija Hospital, CHC Chakpikarong and CCC Bal Bhavan.
They were residents of Imphal East (5), Imphal West (1), Thoubal (1), Kakching (2) and Chandel (1).Of the 783 people discharged during the last 24 hours, 591 were under home isolation.
The others were discharged from RIMS (20) and different Covid care facilities (172) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 52,899 (general population 49,136 and Central security personnel 3,763) .
This figure includes 8,863 active cases (general population 8,836 and Central security personnel 27) and 43,187 recovered cases (general population 39,456 and Central security personnel 3,731) .
The recovery rate as on Thursday is 81.64 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 787 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 425 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the State and there are 650 D-type cylinders in the central medical store of the Directorate of Health Services.
As per latest information provided by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 4,01,133 people have been vaccinated against the contagion in the State.
Mass testing sites: The locality wise testing sites for aggressive mass testing in Imphal West district for tomorrow have been identified.
Th Kirankumar, Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West in a statement listed the identified testing sites as follows- Community Hall at Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai, Uchiwa Hiden Achouba Lampak at Uchiwa, Community Hall at Maklang Makha Leikai, Community Hall at Kanto Makha Leikai, Community Hall at Langjing Mamang Leikai, Community Hall at Langjing Chingmang, Lairenjam Ibudhou Soraren Haraopham Community Hall at Lairenjam Mayai Leikai, Bhairodan Maxwell School at Thangal Bazar, Lai Ishing Chaibi Community Hall at Nagamapal, Community Hall at Yurembam Makha Leikai, Tera Makhong Community Hall at Thangtek, Nepra Menjor Community Hall at Sagolband Nepra Menjor and Community Hall at Sangaithel.
