Imphal, July 24: Condemning the firing attack at the Lilong Chingkham Maning residence of Principal in-charge of Lilong Haoreibi College Md Khalilu Rehman, students and teachers of the college, Lilong Higher Secondary Madrassa and Lilong High School staged a protest sitting at the gate of Lilong Haoreibi College.

The firing attack was undertaken by some unidentified persons in the wee hours of July 22.Principal in-charge Md Rehman said that he had no idea as to why his residence was attacked.

Maintaining that there was neither any case of monetary demand from any group nor any animosity with any body, Md Rehman appealed to all concerned not to undertake such intimidating acts in future.

Taking part in the protest sitting, secretary of Lilong Haoreibi College Students' Union Farooq Ahmad expressed disapproval at the firing attack.

Such intimidating attacks caused serious psychological disturbances to both the students and teachers, he observed.

Saying that there would be class boycott in the college till July 26, the student representative appealed to all concerned to clarify on the firing attack by July 26 .

While strongly condemning the firing attack, the president of DESAM, Lilong local council has appealed to the Lilong Haoreibi College Students' Union not to take recourse to class boycott.
