Imphal, January 21: A bomb, probably planted earlier, exploded at the residential compound of one Hanjabam Sanayaima (62) at Brahmapur Thangapat Mapal at about 9 am today.

The bomb exploded when wastes materials piled in the garbage pit were put on fire, oblivious that a bomb was there inside the garbage litter.

However, there is no report of any casualty in the blast.

Meanwhile, a press release issued by the Imphal Public Club and the Chaokhat Khongthang Nupi Lup has strongly condemned such wanton act of placing explosives in residential compounds.

They also appealed to all concerned not to indulge in such despicable acts in future.

Truck set ablaze : A Tata truck (MN 01-6294) was set ablazed by unidentified miscreants at Kumbi Kwakta Tabi Chingol of Maharabi Awang Leikai under Sekmai police station at about 2.45 pm today.

The truck was heading towards Imphal carrying vegetables from Dimapur.

The front portion of the truck has been substantially burnt.

It is reported that the unidentified persons came on NV scooters.
