Police killed 27 UGs, held 280 during this year

Imphal, July 11: The state security forces killed 27 UG activists, and arrested 280, out of which 49 of them were booked under NSA during the first half of the year.

This was revealed by the police brass at an interaction with the press at the 1st MR Banquet Hall this evening.

The police also seized seven AK 47/56 rifles, three SLRs, five 303 rifles, four carbines, 13 pistols, two.38 revolvers, five grenades, 10 walkie talkie sets and 120 rounds of ammunition from the UG.

The official also stated that six police personnel were killed by the UGs and another six injured.

Altogether nine weapons were lost during the counter insurgency operations, the officials revealed.

The weapons include one LMG, two carbines, six SLRs and 770 rounds of ammunition.

The police officials also disclosed that a variety of equipment has been issued by the ministry of human affairs in view of heightened insurgency problem in the state.

The police department received 66 light vehicles, 3 medium vehicles and 31 heavy vehicles from MHA.

Communication equipments worth Rs 30,211,399 were also received.
