Imphal, November 15: After Moirang Block CDPO Rasheswari was shot dead yesterday, the vice-chairman of the KCP (Military Council) has been apprehended during an extensive search operation launched by the Bishnupur District Police commandos.

According to information received from police, the KCP (MC) vice-chairman was apprehended during an extensive search operation conducted at Yumnam Khunou area from 4 am till 8 am today.

The vice-chairman is identified as Oinam Suranjoy alias Sanjoy alias Joy alias Piba (34) s/o O Kokngang of Yumnam Khunou Mamang Leikai.

It is reported that intensive interrogation of the arrested vice-chairman is going on.

Two more cadres of the KCP (MC) were also arrested by Imphal West police commandos today at 3.10 am from their respective houses at Kongba Laishram Leikai.

In a statement, SP of Imphal West, Clay Khongsai said that the two were arrested following specific inputs and identified them as Chanam Bikram Singh (27) son of Ch Kumar Singh and Laishram Chandrakumar Singh alias Ibungochouba alias Michael (30) son of Madhumangol Singh .

On preliminary interrogation the two disclosed that they were working under one L Khomba, said the SP and added that they were assigned to collect Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000 from the Manager of Urban Co-operative Bank, Singjamei branch and the Superintendent Engineer Digen of Soibam Leikai respectively for party fund.

They were also assigned to demand eight numbers of SK oil tanker from FCS Inspector Golmei.
