CM lobbying for fund release

Imphal, August 24: To urge the Prime Minister and other relevant Central leaders for release of Plan and Special Plan Assistance fund allotted to the State within this month or by next month at the latest, Chief Minister O Ibobi left for New Delhi this afternoon.

The Chief Minister will also be pointing out the difficulties likely to be faced by the State in utilizing the Plan and SPA fund in case the fund is released late in view of the election code of conduct which would come into force soon ahead of the Parliamentary elections scheduled for next year, conveyed a senior Minister of the SPF Government while talking to the media.

The Chief Minister was also taking utilisation certificates of projects taken up with SPA to New Delhi.

Considering the short working season in the State, all process of tender and allotment of contract works will be completed by September so that all planned projects can be initiated at the earliest, conveyed the Minister.

Chief Minister O Ibobi will also call on Union Sports Minister and discuss the issue of denying weightlifter L Monika the ticket to Beijing.

They will also discuss the stance of the Manipur Olympic Association not to send any Manipur team to zonal, national and international sport competitions.

In addition, Ibobi would be urging for timely release of requisite funds for expansion of NH 39 .

On the other hand, Sports Minister held a meeting with officials of Youth Affairs and Sports Department and representatives of coordinating committee yesterday on the resolution of State players not to participate in zonal, national and international sports championships.

Even as the State Government demanded a CBI enquiry into the case of dropping out Monika from Beijing Olympics in a dubious and contentious manner, the meeting agreed to wait for the report of the ongoing enquiry instituted by the Centre.
