Imphal, July 19: The identities the two suspected underground activists shot dead by Imphal West Police Commandos during an encounter at Tera Sadokpam under Lamphel Police yesterday afternoon have been established.

They have been identified as Md Akela (26) s/o Md Oly of Kiyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai and Ningombam Ratan (24) s/o Ibomcha of Bashikhong Kongba Irong.

Contradicting the police claim, the family members asserted that both of them were picked up while having tea at a hotel in Kyamgei Mayai Leikai yesterday morning by some security personnel in civvies coming in a Get Z car.

The bodies have been handed over to their respective family members after post-mortem at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital today.
