Imphal, July 31: Identities of two persons gunned down by a combined team of Imphal West commandos and troops of 12 Maratha Light infantry at laphupat Tera of Thoubal district yesterday afternoon have been established.

Contrary to the police claim of the slain persons being kidnappers/recruiters of child soldiers both are informed to be cadres of the proscribed PREPAK organisation with one recently joining the armed outfit.

According to family members who showed up at RIMS morgue to identify and claim the corpses, the deceased Longjam Robinson alias Keke (18) s/o L Ibomcha of Kyamgei Awang Leikai had left home on February 22 this year.

After being informed of Robinson not feeling well (ill) family members on July 4 brought him back home where he stayed for about 15 days to recover.

Robinson is said to have left home again on July 27 only to culminate with the news of his death in the gun-fight yesterday.

Even though the family members confided they were aware of Robinson having joined the PREPAK organisation they expressed ignorance to which group he owed allegiance.

Police had claimed Robinson to be a cadre of PREPAK (VC) group.

On the otherhand, the second victim of the Laphupat Tera shoot-out has been identified as Salam Budha (30) s/o (L) S Thambalngou of Nongmaikhong Makha Leikai.

Budha is said to have joined PREPAK some five years back.

The bodies have been handed over to their respective family members.

meanwhile, body of Keisham Bishworjit (32) s/o K Tomba of Thiyam konjin has been handed over to family members after the post mortem at RIMs morgue today.

Bishworjit was one of two persons shot dead by a combined security team near Hiyangthang Oil Pump on July 27 with family members and JAC refusing to claim the body insisting that the victim was an innocent civilian contrary to the police claim of both the deceased being KRA (U) activists.

Meanwhile a statement issued by the JAC today conveyed that Bishworjit's corpse is being claimed as the Government had endorsed all its demand.

An agreement was reportedly reached yesterday at a meeting between the JAC representatives and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh in the presence of the CM's ministerial colleagues Th Debendra Singh and Md Allauddin Khan.

The statement, however, expressed resentment against the remarks of Imphal East district SP Th Radheshyam that justified police action against Bishworjit and the other slain individual.
