Imphal-Moreh bandh blocks vehicles

A convoy of vehicles that drove towards Moreh to receive foreign delegates who were supposed to take part in the Sangai Festival 2015 was forced to return from Saivom village on Saturday due to the indefinite bandh imposed by Kuki Student's Organisation (KSO) along the Imphal-Moreh highway.
Bandh supporters halted the vehicles which came towards Moreh from Imphal to receive a team of foreign delegates coming to participate in the Sangai Festival at Saivom village.
The vehicles were forced to return.
KSO intensified its agitation and enforced the indefinite bandh at several places along the section of National Highway-102 after a meeting with the State Education Minister and IGNOU's Regional Director failed to arrive at a solution.
Large number of bandh supporters blocked the road at Saivom, Tengnoupal and Chahmol village and restricted vehicular movements along the Imphal-Moreh road.
It may be mentioned that KSO Chandel imposed the indefinite bandh along the Imphal-Moreh highway since November 14 last in protest against the shifting of D El Ed 2nd yr Examination Centre of Tengnoupal BRC IGNOU Study Centre outside the District.
Meanwhile, Kuki Chiefs' Association (KCA), Tengnoupal Block urged the State Government to bring an amicable solution to the ongoing agitation launched by KSO, Chandel District.
In a press statement signed by Tm Holkhokhai Haokip, President of KCA, Tengnoupal Block said that economic activities and movements of general public particularly the villagers of the area have been severely affected due to the indefinite bandh imposed since last Saturday.
Vehemently condemning the Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Centre, Imphal for shifting the examination centre, the chiefs' association's President also appealed the authority to settle the issue at the earliest.
