The AICTE, New Delhi has given its approval to start MCA Course in DOEACC Centre Imphal from the current Academic Year 2009-10 said a statement of Director i/c Kh Budhachandra.
The AICTE team had visited the centre for inspection on June 01 2009 last before granting the approval.
The centre is likely to get approval and affiliation from Manipur University (MU) soon, as the MU team had also visited the centre on May 27, 2009 last for the purpose.
Earlier, MU had issued 'No Objection Certificate' to start MCA Course in DOEACC centre Imphal said the statement.
DOEACC Centre Imphal had "B" Level Programme, which is equivalent to MCA but the number of students admitted were less and hence the course was discontinued.
The present MCA course will utilize the facilities and faculties which were earlier engaged for the "B" Level Programme.
The centre is also planning to start M Tech in "Embedded Systems and IT Security", since the institute has qualified faculty in these fields.
The DOEACC Centre of Aizawl had already run MCA course under affiliation to Mizoram University said the statement.
The statement further mentioned that there are only 40 seats available in the MCA course at the Computer Science Department of MU currently, whereas about 300-400 students apply for admission to MCA in the state every year.
DOAECC Centre Imphal, will add another 30 seats for MCA with the starting of the course this year and may increase to 60 seats next year.
BCA is already running at 3 colleges under MU including DOEACC Centre Imphal and there is a need to increase the number of seats for MCA programme in the state.
